Alutec Classic makes the timeless look an affordable choice
6 January 2009
Cala Homes has used Alutec aluminium rainwater gutters from Marley Plumbing and Drainage to gives a timeless cast-iron look to a prize-winning house design.
Rowanlea, which was voted House of the Year in the Scottish Home
Awards, is one of the designs used by Cala Homes at its Briery
Meadow development at Haddington, East Lothian. All of the sixty
homes on the development combine modern, light-filled interiors
combined with traditional exteriors in the local vernacular style.
Slate roofs and stone walls, which match the local architecture,
are complemented by Alutec Classic guttering and matching 72mm
square down-pipes.
The Alutec Classic gutter has a traditional ogee-style profile and
is manufactured from high-grade aluminium. When finished in, a
special textured polyester powder coating, the result is a product
that looks like cast iron but is both cheaper and lighter.
Derek Hamilton, Commercial Manager of Cala Homes commented,
"Alutec Classic allows us to give the appearance of cast iron at an
affordable price to meet the requirements of a sensitive planning
area."
Alutec rainwater products are manufactured from high grade
aluminium which is corrosion resistant and fully recyclable. They
are much lighter and cost-effective than cast iron, and a high
quality powder coated finish means that they never need
repainting.
The Alutec collection offers a wide range of profiles and
colours to suit all types of traditional and contemporary
properties.
