Marley assists with high capacity roof design

Marley Plumbing and Drainage has supplied 160 metres of its high capacity Deepflow150 gutter system to Fairford Primary School in Gloucestershire. Deepflow150 was specified for this refurbishment project as the extra capacity will deal with a high volume of run off from the large roof.
The primary school has suffered from numerous leaks over the years and required a brand new roof and eaves gutter system that blended with the existing surroundings. Due to the large roof area, the school had experienced many problems with the gutters not being of sufficient capacity, a problem particularly during heavy rain. This resulted in water overflowing onto the playground or finding its way into the building.
Marley's Technical Department calculated the size and amount of gutters and downpipes required, and provided a full roof drainage design to Gloucestershire County Council incorporating the Deepflow150. The extra capacity from the rainwater system would efficiently meet the required run off rate.
Due to the age of the building, Fairford Primary School and the Local Planning Authority were keen to keep a similar appearance to match the existing style of the building, built in 1986. "We were therefore able to match the original brown and this blended seamlessly with the Cotswold Stone colour of the external walls and the brown of the new roof tiles," commented Jane Sparling, Head Teacher at Fairford Primary School.
Deepflow150 has a flow rate of up to six litres per second, so larger roofs can be drained efficiently and effectively with fewer downpipes and underground drainage connections, while the Deepflow150 profile and bracket design give a sleek and professional look to the roof edge, much like the original, well known Marley Deepflow 110mm gutter. The new, larger Deepflow150 also utilises Marley's advanced Life4 technology, which means that the gutter and pipe will stay looking good for longer than standard PVCu systems.
The Deepflow guttering was installed by Marley Roofing contractors and is very easy to work with and quick to fix together. Benefiting from the Marley Easyclip system - fittings simply click together to produce reliable and watertight joint and can be easily unclipped if required. The Easyclip system also allows the use of notch jointing - which allows the gutter to expand and contract due to temperature changes without the gutter pulling out of the fittings causing system failure.
