Thermal Movement

A 3m length of PVCu pipe will increase in length by approximately 3.6mm when subjected to a 20°C temperature variation. Therefore it is important to ensure that any movement is controlled and ring seal joints are installed to accommodate any expansion.

Waste systems should include an expansion coupling where pipe length exceeds 1.8m or between fixed points.

Pipe support

Plastic coated metal socket clips (SC41) are designed to fit ring seal sockets and act as an anchor bracket. PVCu brackets are used as an intermediate support (SC45).
