Downpipe Systems

The following chart shows which downpipes shape and sizes are compatible with each gutter system:

Offset assembly

Offsets are constructed from 67½° bends and a length of pipe. Where they are over 600mm in length, it is recommended that they be solvent welded. A pipe clip should be fixed below the offset.

Pipe clips

A clip should support the top socket of the pipe. Intermediate clips should be located at a maximum of 1.8m centres.

Thermal movement

A gap of 10mm should be left between the end of each pipe and the base of the socket to allow for thermal movement.

Drain connections

Usually made via a gully hopper or direct to drain. A reducer is used for direct connection, RRM425(110mm) or SRM325 (82mm). A trapped gully is required where connection is made to a combined foul and surface water drain.
