Q: It is recommended that an infiltration system is installed at least 1m above ground water table level. Why is this?

A: Firstly, the installation will not function well if it is already partially waterlogged. Secondly, the separation of 1m between the ground water and base of the cells is to allow filtration of hydrocarbons and heavy metal particles, minimising any contamination of sub surface aquifers or water courses.
