Methods of Jointing

Two methods of jointing are employed, either ring seal (push-fit) or solvent weld. Click here for instructions on how to make a joint.

Thermal movement

A 3m length of PVCu pipe will increase in length by approximately 3.6mm when subjected to a 20°C temperature increase. Therefore it is important to ensure that any movement is controlled and ring seal joints are installed to accommodate any expansion. Click here for more information.

Note: If you are installing a new soil stack or drainage system, or significantly altering an existing system, you will need to inform the Building Control Department at your local Council. You will need to demonstrate that the work carried out conforms to Building Regulations: England & Wales or Scotland
