Siting of Fans
Incorrect siting of an extractor fan can severely impair its efficiency. It is therefore important that the fan is correctly sited using the following principles.
- To ensure maximum air flow through the whole room, mount in the window, wall or ceiling furthest from the air inlet point and at high level
- Do not position a fan where temperatures are likely to exceed 40"( (for example above a cooker hob or eye level grill)
- A fan installed in a bathroom must not be within reach of a person using the bath or shower
- Always use an In-Duct Fan to ventilate a shower cubicle.
Ducted Applications
Where a duct passes through an unheated roof void, insulation should be used to minimise condensation formation. Horizontal ducts should allow the condensate to drain away from the fan.
Important
The electrical connections must be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with Part P of the Building Regulations & lEE Wiring Regulations.
