Rainwater Harvesting
Significant steps have been taken place in recent years to reduce water wastage through improvements to the supply network and the introduction of more efficient water appliances. However, household water consumption could still be reduced by up to 50%, simply through collecting, storing and re-using rainwater at source. Not only does this reduce the use of metered water, the collection of rainwater reduces the demand on the drainage system, in turn reducing flood risk.
The Marley rainwater harvesting system uniquely combines infiltration (soakaway) with recycling, thereby alleviating the problems of either water shortage or flooding.
The Marley rainwater harvesting system is supplied in part assembled kit form, 2 versions are available:
- A remote connection facility suitable for an outside tap for garden use or car washing.
- A domestic backup system, which can be used for non-potable appliances (toilet flushing).
Control units are supplied pre-wired, requiring only a final connection to be made to a 240V power supply.
The Marley rainwater harvesting system is a dual storage and soakaway system and is constructed from separate components consisting of an inlet chamber, filter unit, submersible pump unit and base unit combined with Marley Waterloc stormwater storage cells. The following components are for a standard system with a water storage capacity of 4.5m3 and a soakaway capacity of 2.25m3 .
Extra soakaway capacity can be added if required using additional Waterloc cells in the top layer.
