Marley Plumbing and Drainage will be hosting a seminar entitled: ‘Underground SUDS solutions: Design, policy and application’ targeted at all civil engineers, environmental consultants, architects, specifiers and developers involved in the design and specification of the below ground systems.
To be held on Monday 8th December, the seminar at the Institution of Civil Engineers in central London will feature presentations from speakers from DEFRA, OVE ARUP, CIRIA and Heriot Watt University. It is widely accepted that climate change is severely affecting weather patterns, bringing extreme conditions from intense periods of rain to prolonged droughts. Sustainable drainage continues to grow in importance, as existing drainage systems are simply not able to cope with these wide fluctuations.
The main topics for discussion will be the structural and hydraulic design of below ground SUDS installations and the current and future statutory policy concerning the construction, ownership and operation.
The conference aims to clarify the issues of load transference and the general structural design philosophy required for storage cells as well as looking at how storm profiles are used in the hydraulic design of such installations. The likely direction of future legislation, with particular emphasis on the long term responsibility or adoption of such systems will also be discussed.
